Wedding update

Taking a sly look back at some of the weddings I have shot since the start of the year. What pleasure still, working as a team with Hamish.

This selection has been  edited from some of the gorgeously sunny days at Norton House Hotel. They combine some classic lessons in shooting a ceremony without permission to use flash, as well as the fragile dexterity of having to RE-learn my hands to shoot a Nikon on the there and then.

Eighteen flavours of Prague

Finally tucked into the trove of imagery from our trip Czech side. These are the last traces of relaxation from the Easter break as semester3 opens up with its big swampy arms, inundating me...with tasks.

Decided to cut my edit down to Eighteen images that represent Prague. When i close my eyes, here is what i conjure...

Sometimes I feel like...

...i'm playing pool with my dad. Cues are chalk-less and broken. The white is sunk. The black is sunk. Both are sunk accidentally in an impossible embarrassment. Round and round and round the table. Your aim is true, but your shot is bollox. And on and on...potting each other's balls all the while.

But out of shot, in the corner. There's a round of beers and brandy. And all of a sudden, there's your explanation.

But sometimes...I feel like im playing pool with myself.

Not today though! I feel great, ive a new flat cap. Its nearly bed time. Brilliant

Smoke off

Just last week I grabbed Steph from First Coast and gave her some very very vague instructions and the threat of photography. I had some hardcore specifics in mind for some images along the post-war Noir, classique lines. Pretty vague, as i said. So we got together what we could and lo and behold - totally different to what i expected! The joys. Though we had some fun hitting the dingy alleys of Rose street and surprising bar staff at their cigarette break exit. Flash!

The theme got rougher and tougher after a few beers after we tried my ideas on for size. What i was aiming for was something period but masculine and bold as! The leather jacket gave a tougher, bomber feel but the spots we chose were heavy, dark and very urban. So the cigars came out.

And i've been listening to jazz all the day is long. French jazz! The next time i leave my house i will be a chain smoking, crevated recluse. Bread for everyone

Touchdown!

I've un-shouldered my bag and deflated it of all my spoils. It doubled in size by virtue only of the generosity of my parents (pretty much like i did). The finest savory potato delights from the house of Tayto as well as the finest couverture couture from the parlours of O' Connáill.

What a city is Prague. Holy Moley. Unfortunately, due to some kind of impractical love for photography i have a thousand images all awaiting my attention. And stories too!

Mo Cahh Moneh

Fulfilling a short term promise of mine this Thursday when i pull into the Czech Republic's splendid Prague. I'm flying over to see my Dad and my bro Dave whose on erasmus south near Brno pulling furniture asunder for a term. Can I wait or what!?

Only slightly, since i took a long look out my rainy windows and back to my Czech weather forecast for this coming weekend. But what they dont know is that I am impervious to the rain. Bring the rain oornnnn! (but not orn to my camera please. thanks.) What i dont know however is anything about Prague whatsoever. For something on my wishlist for so long i've done a fair whack of nothing about researching it. Which means one thing only -> tonnes of lovely, delicious pedestrian exploration.

My favourite! From café to café, the city shall be mine. I can sample the delectable routes like a connoisseur and walk all the million mile dead-ends like some rambling eccentric. I cannot wait to find out what i can get for the Czech krona. Now is the pleasure of holding a vast wad of an unknown culture, with its antiquities and emblems ablaze with mystery.
If i can get twenty fifty coffees out of these bad boys then i will return a happy man. Travels and photos on the BRB's
